Our full address is: The Berne Institute, Berne House, 29 Derby Road, Kegworth DE74 2EN. (Telephone and fax: 01509-673649).
Here are detailed directions:
By car (or bicycle):
Coming from M1 or from Birmingham (M42/A42): by either of these routes, come to the roundabout that is the junction of M1, A42 and A6/A50. On the motorway, it is Junction 24. From the motorway exit roundabout, take the exit signed "Loughborough A6". Carry on down the A6 for about a mile, into Kegworth village. You will see The Berne Institute on the right, about 100 yards before you come to Kegworth village centre. Watch out for the sign saying "29, Berne House". There is an off-street car parking space immediately in front of the building; please park there if there are spaces. If you are cycling, you will find anchor points for bike locks on the rear walls of the car park.
If you arrive by car and our own car park is full, do please find on-street parking in a marked parking space - we value the goodwill of the Kegworth police and of our neighbours!
Coming from Loughborough or Derby: from either place, follow signs for the A6 to Kegworth. If you are coming from Loughborough, The Berne Institute is about 100 yards past Kegworth village centre on the left; if from Derby, the directions are as given above for routes from M1 or Birmingham.
Coming from Nottingham: follow signs out of Nottingham city towards Birmingham and East Midlands Airport, A453. This takes you to the big roundabout over Junction 24. From there, follow directions as given above for routes from M1 or Birmingham.
By train and bus:
The nearest BR station is Loughborough. From the station there, walk or take a taxi to the bus station (about half a mile). Ask for Service No. 10 or 310 of Barton's buses. The Kegworth service is approximately hourly. There is also a service by Kinch Buses, running from Loughborough through Kegworth to Derby (Services 121 or 123); these run every two hours. The bus journey from Loughborough to Kegworth takes about 20 minutes. Get off the bus in Kegworth village centre, and walk out along Derby Road. Berne House is about two minutes' walk from the bus stop.
If coming by rail from the North or North-West, you may find it more convenient to come to Derby BR station. From there, walk or take a taxi to Derby bus station. Catch the Kinch service 121 or 123 towards Loughborough, get off at Kegworth village centre (about 30 minutes' journey time) and proceed as above. You can also come by train to Nottingham station, go to Broad Marsh bus station and catch the Barton No. 10 or 310 towards Loughborough; however, this is a very slow bus journey, lasting about one hour. If you decide to get a taxi to Kegworth from the railway station, it will cost between £12 and £30 from Loughborough, or between £20 and £35 from Nottingham or Derby. (So it pays to shop around for your fare if you come by taxi!)
