NEW: Skills Practice Group

The Skills Practice Group, new this year, is an advanced training group that focuses on clinical practice and development. It is open to anyone who has completed at least a Foundation Course or the equivalent, and provides opportunity for live skills practice. It also affords the opportunity to get supervision for those already seeing clients by applying the topic to their current case work. Group membership is limited to 12, and some places are still available (as at end November 2008) for membership covering the remaining six meetings of the group, from January through July 2008. The group leader is Frances Townsend MSc(TA) CertCouns PTSTA.

This group meets for a whole day, once per month. Meetings are on Sundays 10.00am -5.00pm. Dates from January 2008 are: 6/1; 9/3; 6/4; 11/5; 8/6; and 13/7.

Membership is open to trainees from other training centres as well as to trainees at “The Berne”. (If you are currently in training at a centre other than “The Berne”, please get clearance from your trainer before applying to join the group. This is required by the ITA Professional Practices Guidelines.)

The topics covered include:

For CTA credit hours the participants may count one supervision hour for each significant piece of live supervision of skills received, and the remaining hours may be logged as Advanced TA Training.
